Quick shoutout:
At Cloud Nine, Martin was friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, applied no pressure whatsoever, and offered better deals than online.
My full experience:
I bought a new mattress a couple years ago from Costco, but it wasn't firm enough, so I returned it. Then I tried again from Amazon. Better, but still not quite right, so I returned that too. After putting it off for a couple years, I finally realized my back and shoulder pain was probably due to my mattress, so it was time to fix it.
After researching online, I found the Plank Firm Luxe, but worried it might be too firm. Testing mattresses in person is key since comfort is so subjective, so I looked for authorized dealers nearby. That led me to Cloud Nine. (Their new location in Santa Cruz, 175 Walnut Avenue.)
I called ahead, and Martin kindly offered to stay open for me to arrive a few minutes past closing since I was running late. I got there and he was patient and friendly, letting me try the mattress I wanted, flipping it over so I could test both sides. He also suggested a couple others based on my sleep preferences, and they were surprisingly comfortable. I kept going back to the Plank because it gave great lower back support. Martin flipped the mattress several times for me and never pressured me to buy or rush, even though it had to be an hour past closing by the time I left.
I had to get going because a friend and my dogs were waiting for me, so I said I'd think it over. Doing research later, I checked prices and was blown away; Martin's price on the Plank matched the online price, and for one of the other mattresses I liked, *his price* was actually *lower* than online. No haggling or price matching needed.
Fifteen years ago, when I bought a Sealy, I had to buy online to get a good deal since in-store prices at the places I looked at were so marked up. I expected the same this time around but was happily surprised at Cloud Nine. Plus, Cloud Nine includes a mattress protector and old mattress removal, extras I didn't find online.
I'm really happy with the experience and wanted to share. Cloud Nine is a total hidden gem. Check them out. You won't be disappointed!
